Softcult
Softcult is Phoenix and Mercedes Arn-Horn, twin sisters who left a teenage pop deal behind to build something rawer — grunge and shoegaze wrapped around loudly feminist, queer-inclusive lyrics. Live, Phoenix's drumming is “a spine of steel” under Mercedes swinging between delicate vulnerability and snarling defiance, the kind of set that leaves a packed room “fully entranced.” Their debut album, When a Flower Doesn't Grow, came out this January.
