SCALP
SoCal's SCALP call their sound “death violence”: hardcore dragged through powerviolence blasts and technical death metal, with sludge crawling underneath. Their touchstones run from Nails and Full of Hell to Dystopia. Domestic Extremity (2020) was recorded through a wall of 200-watt amps. The band, which began as a Halloween joke, credits “the silliness of the whole thing” for getting people in the door, even as the music turned deadly serious.
