Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean
Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean is a Springfield, Massachusetts band playing sludge that has drifted toward funeral doom: slow, “inky” structures, a guitar tone that “bleeds like molasses,” raw screamed vocals and caustic feedback, with groove-driven riffs still landing inside the weight. Its 2026 EP, Let Us Not Speak of Them but Look and Pass On, was called “easily one of the heaviest things” of the year, and one review hears “earnest and haggard anger and pain” in it.
“Springfield sludge band supporting Inter Arma in Buffalo and Brooklyn.”
