Acid Mothers Temple
Acid Mothers Temple began as a search for the “really extreme trip music” its founder could never find on record: Deep Purple's hard rock fused with Stockhausen's electronics. Long improvised space-rock jams collapse whole eras into one track, with krautrock drones, Sabbath riffs, funk and disco, cut up and overdubbed like musique concrète. The lineup rotates freely around the founding guitarist, closer to Sun Ra's Arkestra than a fixed band. The point is liberation: chaos and control at once, and a healthy sense of the bizarre.
